It arrived: my first #PCEngine (well, that's mine at least!).

Wants a lot of attention inside and out. The previous owner has had it modified for RGB output (to be checked). pic.twitter.com/tfYUOADzcT
Let's all give that bottle of Isopropyl a bloody big cheer 👍#PCEngine #CastleVania #Maxell pic.twitter.com/KaY8HUm8rK

#PCEngine progress update. It's certainly getting there. Both units were close to the controller colour before this started.

#PCEngine progress – nearly there. PC Engine itself is done now I think. Photo from yesterday morning before starting another pass and another from this morning. Just a slight tint left on the CD-ROM2 buttons and front of the top shell (those were the worst affected areas). pic.twitter.com/Eml4XAgoF4

#PCEngine progress – Starting on the controller. Turbo slide switches have tarnished but the contact material has restored nicely. Might explain why the turbo functions were not working before. pic.twitter.com/QZVQsHqU7b

#PCEngine Progress – Think I'm done with the shells. Starting on the Interface Unit next and last pass to do on the controller. pic.twitter.com/Qnvk3mNVHM

#PCEngine Progress – I don't actually plan to use them, but tidied up the Interface Unit DC-input and A/V out. pic.twitter.com/SyxxHTlBfP

#PCEngine update – "Jailbar fix" performed (C135 & C133 swapped for 4.7uF 0805 25V as per Tim W's documented advisory https://t.co/26pq5v7mMH). Removed the rust bucket of an RF modulator as it serves zero purpose for me. pic.twitter.com/8BupAVRdGy

#PCEEngine progress – PC Engine is reassembled. Shell colour is very close to what it should be. Internals all cleaned and checked. pic.twitter.com/dCKDyLnwHO

#PCEngine progress – CD-ROM² reassembly. Removed as much tarnish off the exposed RF shielding plate tab as possible by hand, degreased/cleaned/re-greased the mechanics & cleaned the PCB. pic.twitter.com/f1Wbq30SMX

#PCEngine progress – CD-ROM² fully assembled. Have been listening to the soundtrack from Rondo of Blood via the game disc (CD-R) & it in audio CD mode for the last half hour 🙂 pic.twitter.com/qtjefA9v9C

#PCEngine progress – Both units together after a restoration and a couple of photos of how they arrived pic.twitter.com/TLwKye0OP7

#PCEngine progress – Controller reassembled and feels great now; gone is the crunchy turbo selectors (that never worked), responsive D-Pad is now included along with fire buttons that actually return to original position after pressing

#PCEngine progress – Work on the Interface Unit has started. Power and A/V in place. pic.twitter.com/agqUorRFj5

#PCEngine progress – Not much done this evening as I had to sort through and reorganise all the stuff I shifted out of the study (and recycle 17 untrustworthy power adapters). Removed corrosion from power switch bar and handle rails. pic.twitter.com/bV0Kcj67eh

#PCEngine progress – Will do the write up in the morning, but for now all finished and RGB #scanlines via my Sony PVM 👍 pic.twitter.com/iaGESw0AcG

#PCEngine progress – Noticed some disc seek errors after around 10 minutes play last night coupled with a waft of burning flux. Suspected 7805 abuse, replaced it and the surrounding capacitors (1x470uF was good, other reading low with high v.loss). Smell is gone & success so far pic.twitter.com/4a0qEVwmtv

#PCEngine progress – Right, IFU30 tear down, restoration, redo the RGB mod with a "will do for now" (temporary) RGB solution. First, the shell plastic needed some work doing inside and out. pic.twitter.com/cjs5a3tyQH
